The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative LLC, has made its first ever huge investment into their philanthropy project, the project which helps trains and recruits software developers across Africa. Zuckerberg’s philanthropy venture which is an initiative of the Zuckerberg’s family, Mark and his wife Priscilla Chan, however led a $24 million Series B funding in Andela, on Thursday.
What Andela thus is to selects the top 1 percent of tech talent from Africa, trains them and post them to engineering organizations. In Mark Zuckerberg words he praised Andela’s mission for their efforts in breaching the gap between the numerous talents around the world with various opportunities
“We live in a world where talent is evenly distributed, but opportunity is not. Andela’s mission is to close that gap,” Zuckerberg
Interestingly, Mark Zuckerberg also signed the Giving Pledge, which invites the world’s wealthiest individuals and families to commit to giving more than half of their wealth to philanthropy or charitable causes over their lifetime or in their will.
