Precisely last week, the tension was quite high, has the agencies lead a full scale war against piracy websites across the world, and it was reported that the world’s largest torrent websites Extratorrent.cc was going down permanently
Not long afterwards, a message was sent across to its users stating that “ExtraTorrent has shut down permanently. ExtraTorrent with all mirrors goes offline… We permanently erase all data. Stay away from fake ExtraTorrent websites and clones.”
Surprisingly, when most users seems to have given up hope, a tip came in from an email sent to ibtimes..
” We are a group of uploaders & admin’s from ExtraTorrent. As you can see, SAM from ExtraTorrent pulled the plug yesterday and took all data offline under pressure from authorities. We were in deep shock & have been working hard to get it back online with all previous data. ”
“We have successfully restored it back at extratorrent.cd with all available data. It’s live and new data is continuously being updated. Some small features are not yet working on it and we are still getting it fixed as we speak. Our group had previously resurrected The Pirate Bay and KickAss Torrents (as kickass.cd) when these went offline. These sites are our home and we won’t let anyone destroy them.
Interestingly, the resurrected ExtraTorrent works just like its previous website, and those that are already registered with it can still login to continue with their accounts, while new users can as well create a new accounts to enable them make use of this new one.
