Rumor suggest Glo May Acquire Etisalat

Rumor currently making wave has it that Etisalat may have gotten itself into some saga with 12 banks in Nigeria, as a matter of fact those banks were said to considering taking over the Etisalat company

It was also gathered that Etisalat recently offered a 5% equity stake to the hand of the banks instead of the loan, but was declined by the banks

In a bid to rescue the Arab telecommunication company, rumor also suggest that NCC, Nigeria Communcation Commission had to step in to their rescue

You’d recall that sometimes last month data NCC made available some facts, which reveals the south African Company. MTN has the largest subscribers database of about 60.3 million

Glo on the other hand came in second with about 37.3 million subscribers, while Airtel was said to have 34.6 million, but the Arab Company, Etisalat gathered 18 million subscribers database

Here might be some reasons why Glo might be interested in acquiring Etisalat

• Income that are generated  from data is now suddenly to outweigh SMS and Voice so solidness is expected. In addiction to that,etisalat has a  very high competitive advantage in its data services and a possible merger with Globalcom, which would now make the company to offer cheap data services.
• Secondly Globalcom can be in the second position after they acquire etisalat subscribers,and since they are even the only network offering the cheapest data plans in the country then acquiring etisalat will increase their average income per user at a very high rate.

Glo acquiring etisalat will lead to job loss from etisalat because they are just an small firm however,if Globalcom should acquire etisalat ,some little network providers like spectranet,Ntel and so on will try their best to kick against the deal.

Such deal gives Globacom high advantage just as we know that they have dedicated Fibre-Optic infrascture and can afford to deliver the cheapest data plans to their subscribers.
