Etisalat To Pull out of Nigeria in 3 weeks

As sadden as it sounds, Arab Telecom Company, Etisalat has pulled out of Africa largest market Nigeria, after intervention by Nigerian regulators failed

etisalat to pull out of nigeria

What led to this ?

You’d recall Etisalat has been battling with a whooping $1.2 billion loan saga, which reports later came out suggesting the company had been saved by regulator

Well, it appeared all wasn’t too well after all, as the news broke late yesterday that the Abu Dhabi-based Company, Etisalat International has terminated its management agreement with its Nigerian arm and has given Etisalat Nigeria 3 weeks to use the brand in the country.

In other words, after the stipulated time, there’s likely not going to be an etisalat and as such, a re-branding exercise within this shortest time is imminent.

That said, rumors has been going round suggesting either Vodafone or Orange is most likely to take over, but there hasn’t been any official statement from the company to confirm this

However we have reasons to believed that before Etisalat three weeks deadline expires there may have bee some light.. While the struggle to acquire it continues, we can only exercise patience and see how it all plays out
