Finally, the long awaited Google Android 8 Oreo is being rolled out to supported Google Pixel and Nexus devices, smartphone users who enrolled in the Android Beta program can now upgrade to the latest Oreo update
You’d recall sometime last week Google officially unveiled its much awaited OS (Android 8.0 Oreo), Pixel and Nexus smartphones are of the few device to enjoy the beta version of the update while customers with the Verizon unit have also joined other users receiving the beta build of Oreo to Pixel and Pixel XL
Other carriers have also started rolling out the Google Oreo update for supported Pixel and Nexus smartphones including Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Nexus Player although the update is yet to hit devices like Samsung Galaxy S8 and the likes at the moment Google owned phones are already getting the upgrade
Interestingly, Google also went further to publish the factory images and OTA zip files for the public to download allowing smartphone users who are already tired of waiting to receive the Android 8 Oreo update via over-the-air rollout to install the OTA zip download and flash on their device
Google Android 8 Oreo build
Pixels and Pixel XL on Bell, Telus, Telstra, T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular, and Rogers/Fido build number is OPR6.170623.011, while other carriers use OPR6.170623.012.
The Nexus 6P, on the other hand, gets the build ending in 013, but Google notes this is not for T-Mobile, US Cellular, or Fi – but hasn’t yet provided an alternative download. The Nexus 5X’s build is 013 also, while the Pixel C gets 010 and the Nexus Player gets nothing at this point – hopefully it won’t be too long before the console sees its update too.
